Steven Hardy

Appointed as the Director of Digital Transformation in February 2014, Steve has spent the last eighteen months running one of the top ten digital transformation programmes in Barclays. With capital investment close to the annual PBT of the business, Steve is focused on creating bedrock digital experiences for some 1.2 million corporate creditcard holders and creating scale to underpin future business growth. Prior to this role Steve was the Finance Director of the commercial card issuing business and has been instrumental in driving business performance back to annual double digit growth since 2010. The commercial card business recently achieved number 1 in the UK market with close to 20% market share. Having been with Barclays for almost ten years, Steve has gained experience in finance, major change and various roles across operations, having spent two years on an international assignment in Hamburg, where he ran the operations centre.

Prior to Barclays, Steve worked at Travelex where he enjoyed time as a commercial lead in the prepaid card business and later in business development in a white label concierge business, providing high-end telephony servicing to Travelex’s most prestigious customers. His early career focused on his core finance discipline where he has held multiple senior roles in manufacturing, distribution, retail and more recently in financial services.

Steve has a passion for being outside and loves his rural homeland on the border of Leicestershire and Rutland. His passions include “tinkering” with old Volkswagens and spending time in the garden. More seriously though he collects antique fishing tackle and has done so for many years.

Steve is married with two wonderful children.
